SNOWDRIFT – A Ladies’ Smocked Nightgown
This cozy winter nightgown can be smocked in the front, smocked in the front & back or not smocked at all! It is designed to be made of cotton flannel, flannelette or other winter weight fabric. The yoke can be quilted, embellished with embroidery or boutis techniques, Battenberg lace, shadow embroidery or shadow appliqué, reverse appliqué, Madeira appliqué, sashiko quilting, piping and many other techniques or with as much lace as you like. If you are adventurous, you might try it in batiste without the smocking or the long sleeves! Three smocking designs are contained in the pattern.
View A has a side opening allowing for unbroken smocking across the front. Close with ‘frogs’, buttons or snaps. Long sleeves are smocked at the wrist. Pockets are included!
View B has a button front placket, collar and long sleeves with button cuffs and pockets.
View C has a sweetheart yoke, button front placket, long sleeves with cuffs and pockets.
This nightgown was designed keeping in mind how sensitive women’s skin can be following open-heart surgery or a mastectomy. The generous opening makes it easy to get on and off without having to raise your arms over your head. With a size range from XS to XXXL, everyone can make a flattering comfy winter nightgown.
